Good afternoon

I'm trying to help someone who has contacted me regarding a problem with his Freelander 1.

I suspect he has injector issues and needs someone to test fuel delivery to his injectors and if he's getting fuel to them, take them out so he can take them to be tested and when they return refit them.

He's prepared to pay. If you are skilled enough and in the Bolton area please get in touch.

Thanks

Any local Indy ought to be able test the above and/or remove them?

The problem is fuel delivery, I'm almost certain but I haven't inspected the car myself.
It needs to see if fuel is getting to the injectors or finding where it's getting too. The owner isn't mechanically inclined and I am too far away from him to take a look myself. He was referred to me by someone in the trade and I believe it's fuel related.
The owner has had it plugged into diagnostic but injectors won't show any faults in the diagnostic which just confirms it must be a fuel issue. No faults are showing for this problem.

Drives well until it gets to higher speeds or under load which suggests fuel delivery problem

He just needs to have the injectors removed and then he can take them to be tested. Once that's been sorted, to be put back in and bled.

I am certain it must be fuel delivery but not having seen the car I can't be 100% sure. If anyone can correct me if I'm wrong I will take on board any alternatives.

If anyone wants to get paid for the split job then let me know

Cheers

My first plan would be do a leak back test, just chancing taking out al the injectors is work that may not be required, if the leak back test comes back within the allowed spec, then the next step would be to remove the HPFP regulator and change the O-rings, this is about 40 mins work, and cost of O-rings is £5.22

leak back test kit.

As I am not able to get to Bolton I'm looking for someone to do the job for this person.

Are you able to do the job?
Yes and no.
Yes it's quite easy to fault find what is wrong and once again easy to change out an injector if it was found to be that, or the regulator o-rings which personally i think it maybe.

No because Bolton is to far from me.

But i would not direct someone to said person, to remove all injectors before finding out if it is in fact the problem.

If it's been on diagnostics, what's the fuel pressure rail sensor showing at higher speed ? Def worth doing the high pressure pump regulator seals - easy & cheap to do.

Sounds like your friend needs to go to a garage that will do the leak-off, check all sensors, check turbo pipes for leaks, etc. You also didn't say which diesel engine ? The M47 doesn't need fuel rail bleed as it will circulate itself.

Bolton is too far from me as well !!

if it's a td4 .. i'd start by checking low pressure fuel pump & the fuel filter .
are there any other symptoms ? .. e.g. exhaust smoke, rough running .. etc.
does a dash warning lamp illuminate when the engine looses power

tbh .. best to get it on diagnostics , as the fault could easily be a number of things.
