Disclaimer this is NOT an how to, it’s a bit of fun for the quiet months. Maybe someone will find it useful for reference, entertaining or interesting. If you want to fix your EAS see Wammers’ guide in tech section

So here is what I have. EAS on my DT P38 is nothing but a relic. The box is full of engine oil (you won’t have this issue unless you too have been upside down) and it is heavy - why carry excess weight, and perhaps we can learn something or have a laugh

The gap to the right is where the compressor was/should be (we’ll get to that one day, maybe ). The 5 circlet Dunlop thingy is the solenoid control valve block. It’s controlled by the processor to open and close the valves feeding the airbags as needed. Each one has 3different size o-rings inside that can wear out, but first you need to get to them

For now, I have taken out the complete box (4x17mm bolts and disconnect piping) and the dryer unit. I’m cleaning it up as I go

BEWARE - your EAS is likely pressurised and therefore dangerous! Make sure you know what you are doing or consult professional help if in doubt.

For anyone reading, I’m taking this to bits ; you only take out what is necessary

For it to come out of the box you need to unscrew the filter at the bottom, mine has seen better days but should wash out

There’s a few of these clips that come out if you pinch them with a pliers or grips gently. The 24yr old plastic is not weak FairPlay

This is the part where people start to say “what are you doing you maniac, buy some better tools !”

...no, you can buy them for me if it means that much
No matter what size quality spanner I use the brass connector for the pressure switch just rounded, firm grips got it off with no damage first for me, and didn’t need a hammer, yet ...maybe later

Us that enjoy the comfort are probably well versed in what it all looks like.

So what’s the next step? Number those solenoids? And what lesson are we getting or is it you wanting to learn how the system is not really that complicated after all and maybe you wish to reinstate it.
And who was the lazy git that took out the compressor and just cut the pipe

You could of sold it by now instead of butchering it

But I am going to persevere, I don’t know why but I will just for ****s and giggles

Oh and any excuse to buy tools is a bonus you can never have too many (shussss don’t tell M)

You wouldn’t need a 4x4 for that cold dew lol.
Syaty Castrated for now (is a she afterall), I’m just curious what state it’s in first so investigating/destroying.
May put lifted EAS on in future - see where this thread goes and if my P38 lasts that long

There's paulsp38 EAS page too and probably something on RR.net but never hurts to have a fresh perspective. Pictures are always good.

For anyone into this sorta thing there are loads of EAS videos on The tube of you. As with anything on the internet some will be of questionable integrity, RSW solutions is a good one

His name is Paul. He has my old Shogun and I have his old P38 if it weren’t for him you wouldn’t have this craziness in our lives.
He knew someone that needed a compressor and since I wasn’t using it.... chop!

I don’t care about the damage, it’s kinda amusing and it went to good use (not that I ever found out what happened to it)

If it was you who cut the blue pipe from compressor to valve block weep. When you find out how much they cost, you may realise keeping it whole and putting it on Ebay may have been a better option.
