It does but I'm buggered if I know where it's from. Replaced the top and bottom intercooler pipes and used new jubilees all round. Can't see leaks anywhere else though so I'm stumped

remove the intercooler and fill it with water or something to see if it leaks out, just remember to drain it before refitting

get some end caps, stick a bike pump end in one and see if it holds 15psi.

On what hose? I ain't got a scooby when it comes to turbos or checking the boost so you have to keep it simple for me lol

it's just a big pipe which needs to keep 15psi. this once has a few joins and a metal cooler part

so if you can find some caps that git into the pipes, you can jubilee them in place and stick a bike valve in one (glue will do). so if you remove the top pipe and put one cap in the pipe by the inlet and the other from the pipe that goes to the turbo, you can test that entire section.

bike pump it up, pump has gauge on.. see if the gauge drops quickly.

Wont work, the pipes may expand very slightly but there wont be hardly any pressure there
The amount of people who think a turbo diesel will reach max boost pressure whilst not moving/working is unreal
It has to be worked ie pulling.
I see it all the time at work, blokes spend ages trying to find a a boost leak on a truck whilst revving it at a standstill, idiots

Coincidentally, my turbo seems to have stopped working altogether - it makes no sound at all and I have reduced power, especially uphill. This can be a problem when you live at the top of a hill, beside another hill!

I was just saying to Doc, mine does work. On the flat its mostly fine and speeds up no problem, but as soon as I hit a hill I've got nothing. I can hear the turbo spooling and as if its trying to boost but I get nothing whatsoever and its like driving an old NA.

Nope nothing at all, nothing out of the ordinary anyway. When it was running fine if I booted it I got the usual black smoke but nothing to be concerned about

Ive been having a wonder. I've only got a very basic knowledge of how the injection pump works but as I said my problem only seems to occur when on inclines. Could it be a fuel blockage of some kind?

Can't remember from earlier in your thread, so I'm being lazy. Is it when going uphill? At any rate, you could change your diesel filter. If that does not help, it could be worth changing the fuel lift pump (or at least testing it) - personally, I would try changing it for a decent Delphi one.

Yeah nine times out of ten it's fine on the flat but give it an incline and starts losing power. Itll go up but its like driving a 2.5na and takes forever and a day. I've changed the fuel filter but its still the same so will give the lift pump a shot, I might have a Delphi one kicking around in work

see if you can nab a compression tester when you are at it

I've been reading up on some lift pump problems and one of the common symptoms seems to be a lack of top end power, which sounds right. Something that keepa cropping up though is the use of veg oil/biodiesel coupled with lift pump failure. I've been running mine on veg for the past month and it probably coincided with this problem but a few things ive read say that no the veg oil doesn't affect the lift pump whereas others aren't so sure. Any ideas?

i have added an inline filter before the lift pump as veg oil can dislodge crap in your tank and pipes.

so, although the diaphragm should be ok, it may be clogged.

just grab one from work and fit
