I have a 1.8L petrol freelander on a W reg, 2000, which is revving high anyway upon start up (but rev to 5K and it goes back to nearly normal). However the next time I need to put into neutral and apply brakes it revs steadily increasing to about 3K. Has anyone come across this problem and know a possible solution?

Sounds like a sticky throttle body. It's worth upgrading to the 52mm aluminium version, the original plastic one can be known to warp, especially if the clips around the air pipe are overtightened.

Bromsgrove,

Did you change the throttle body, I've got a similar problem, oiling the throttle cable seemed to help for a while, but the problem came back recently?

Cheer.
