Presumably like other accumulators it has a charged bladder of gas inside it, once you screw it on, the pump pressurises fluid Which pushes against the bladder, this gives you a stored energy to assist with breaking
I test drove an auto and didn't like it, felt sluggish then just looked at manuals, but I think it may of just been that particular auto , when I get round to buying another I will go auto
Well sorted classics are very much sought after, look on eBay , some go for 7k, I read something somewhere that some of the oil rich Arabs that live in London snap them up, they see them as a more rarer range rover nowadays
