Enjoyable read. Was new head from turners? I’d really like a woodland. Have been thinking about it a couple years and have a young son who would benefit from it massively as would his mates! I’m fortunate to have a fair few shooting perms though...

Bit annoying. I’ve got to take the heater box out and the rest of the interior. The dash etc is the only bit I actually worry about putting back together! I chased the rust back to my repair on the other side. Needs a bit of fresh metal.

Drivers side just needs a clean I reckon….. All the rust sponge was wet again. Wing has been patched a couple times and started to lose its shape a bit! One of the Yrm panels in the kit marries up with the headlight box joint and a horizontal...

Morning all, I appreciate all your help and advice in both this and the other v8 thread. I was talking to the chap selling me the v8 (he’s a mate) and we both actually came to the decision that the d1 should remain 300tdi for a few points! I’m...

I keep all his plumbing, heating and gas working so we’ve become friends over the years. He’s genuinely looked after me with this one. Landrover specialist came down and serviced it as well as changed a few bits over like the injector loom and...

Small amount more. Hopefully get a chance to clean up the battery carrier and get that welded in.

Keeping it. We’ve got a place in the mountains in Southern Spain. We’re driving down there in it for the summer.

Cheers, it’s had four new General Grabbers yesterday and flew through MOT today without a single advisory. Garage said emissions really low and chassis solid. Happy Days!

He wants me to install 2 new boilers in some of the farm houses and wants ‘mates’ rates. To be fair, we’re good friends and he knew I was after one.

Farmers don't give away bargains... There'll be a reason he sold it, you just need to find it.

Tiny bit of the interior polishing I’ve been doing. Got one door card done. Added black panel and repaired the bin and painted that black too. Neely veneered insert in. Came out tidy and didn’t lose any of the texture. Also resprayed speaker...

Pic of the stays. The lamps I got at Newbury have never had the stays fitted as you can see in the last pic.

Your time doing any education such as A levels was not and will not be wasted. You wouldnt be doing the degree without A levels..... the degree and A levels will cover you for the future, maybe 20 years later... ", I need to learn properly, and...

Also, my posts are trying to be helpful so hope I don’t come across patronising - don’t box yourself into a corner and look at something that would benefit you and a career in mech in the future.
  • R
I used to work part time at a Landy specialist for a “top up” and access to ramps and trade price parts. I had done mech at college but the only real experience I had was on previous cars I’d owned. I soon realised I knew jack **** compared to...

You can have a Rover V8 rebuilt to any specification you like. They were installed in TVRs with displacements of 5.0L and well over 300hp (I dont remember the numbers exactly). The standard carby 3.5 came as mild as 135hp, and 155 with EFI, or...
  • R
I have read about the odd slipped 3.5 liner but not so great it seems. Either way if I strip it all down it will get rebored for new rings so may aswell get linered which then sends me down the “should you rebore whilst here”. Other option is...

Top hatting, it's like putting a crown on a bad tooth. Done properly and a crack won't matter
  • R
Fresh news. I think it’s actually a 3.5 EFI. My mates getting the numbers today off if. So, is the consensus the 3.5s don’t slip the liners? Thanks for all your inputs by the way - it feels like I’ve turned up 10 years too late for this v8 and as...
  • R
Lot of opinions on this, so here is my input .. for what it's worth ;) 1) Liners; all RV8's have them, it's just that the original 3.5 ones don't normally slip because there's more meat around the cylinder (88.9mm bore as opposed to 94mm) so...

Thanks. This seems the way forward. I’ll speak to the machine shop. I’ll give them the whole bottom end to inspect and tophat. You do know I have an ES don’t you. Preeeeeemium! I even have a cd changer 😂
