Sorry we are talking about two different things, I can see you step bracket does have the nut and bolt fitted.
Mud flap bracket didn't bolt into the out rigger, mind you maybe it should?
I have just been underneath my son's D2 making a bracket up for the side step, non of the brackets are bolted through the little hole on the out rigger. They only thing holding them on is the large nut attached to the long stud coming down on one...
It's an interesting website but some of it is very much out of date.
Really you need to check the relevant online byway map provided by the council, NOT Facebook!
My wife's car has a dipstick on the gearbox and the engine.
Common sense, to me anyway, suggests that not having a dipstick is a stupid idea for lazy people who literally have no interest in what they are driving.

As mentioned you probably need to change all the bushes and shocks anyway, not expensive if you do it yourself.
Hi Flossie, I’m being so dumb as I didn’t realise that yes there is a spring on that ignition switch and finally I have leaned it now how to use it. It does allow me to twist the key to spring and glow plug light come on. Thanks for your help...
One of the first things I did when I bought my TD5 90 was fit a centre silencer delete pipe, Ebay bargain, £1 if I remember correctly.
Really made next to no difference to sound levels.
Today I spent half a day making up a silencer delete rear...
I remember when you could crawl around in cars stacked 3 or 4 high. You always had to remove the parts yourself and the cars would hang around for months on end
A non working servo does indeed make it very difficult to brake.
A 2a ,for example, takes a fair bit of leg effort having no servo but a vehicle with a non functioning servo makes the brakes almost non exsistent.
No idea but various compounds are available.
Brake pad compound can make a massive difference, less noticeable on a Defender maybe but make a vast improvement on more powerful cars.
Pads were getting to the point of replacement anyway, working on...
