Let's see those Series expedition vehicles...

Yeah, let's see it! In the states we call 'em Klunkerz...but the off-road revolution didn't happen until the 70s there - which birthed the mountain biking scene which is popular today. But I've seen evidence here in Europe that nutters have been taking there "gridiron" off road for far...

First long journey in my Series III, don't think she wants to do another!

Grunt, it was the timing. I had a look at the points and they looked OK, but in honesty I didn't measure them. Mark, Landy Rally looks like fun! How many "old" landys do you have entered so far? Makes my little jaunt to Scotland seem rather lame...

Hey, septic here, glad to see a few good men sticking up for the Merkin, even though us Merkins don't need too much standing up for...we seem to charge right into places that don't want us all over the world! But ol' Marcus, a man who knows his Sturmey Archers and Brooks saddles... that's why...

First long journey in my Series III, don't think she wants to do another!

Oh boy, can I get a checker, err chequer plate snorkel? ;) By golly, it was the timing. I bit of back and forth between the distributor and the drivers seat, and voila, she's running sweet again. Really should put a light on her (at midnight) just to check she's running the right timing...

Good point. Kitting out is a much better term. But I think I'll stick with accessorizing just to aggravate you guys...lol.

Now here's a nice example of what I'm looking for that happened to pop up from the gallery: Who wouldn't want to putter around in that? Fantastic. How often does he use the rope tied around the front bumper? Probably not very often, but that doesn't make him a woman! That's some nice...

Man, I can't follow a single thread around here...but I did get the jist of y'all (that be American slang to counter the jibberish slinging around here) takin the mick for my wanting to "accessorize." I figured I'd take a beating for that...should have hung around to get a feel for you folks...

First long journey in my Series III, don't think she wants to do another!

My oh my this is a strange forum...you boys obviously have a great time winding each other up! Marcus, hadn't thought about timing, but that seems like the obvious next place to check considering the symptoms. Man, I don't even have a timing light in this country (I'm a Yank, apologies) -...

First long journey in my Series III, don't think she wants to do another!

Well, I almost got a divorce for that £1,200! Apart from that, there was a whole raft of things apart from the new carb: seals, shock absorber, hand brake service, full waxoil, new swivel balls and front bearings, a bit of welding, etc. The MOT would have been around £500, and I opted for a...

Let's see those Series expedition vehicles...

Hello brave expeditioners, I am actually not so brave, but would like to appear brave by accessorizing my Series III in such a way that might suit expedition travel. The trick is that I would like to keep it period looking...so what I'm really looking for is that vintage expedition look...

First long journey in my Series III, don't think she wants to do another!

Hi folks, I'm new on the forum, and a relatively new Land Rover owner. Last week I took my first long(ish) journey in my 1984 Series III (2.25 petrol). From Birmingham to Scotland and back - about 600 miles total. She did it, with almost no complaints! But it sucked the life out of her...
