    auto gearbox type!!!!!

The two garages who have looked at it have not mentioned dirty oil, but that's no saying it is or isn't. Although its booked in for Monday at gearbox place, as you're in the know, Im in cambridgeshire, can you recommend anybody?

    auto gearbox type!!!!!

So far been told indirectly by previous owner it's been leaking for two years. I've also been told, over the phone, that its a complete gearbox out job, repair the leaks, gearbox back in. Total £500 but that's without looking at the job.

    auto gearbox type!!!!!

To be honest the car drives as it should, just leaks about half a cup of gearbox oil a day. If you read my other post "4x4 specialists" you'll see my issue. Since spoke to the last mot tester who contacted the previous owner, very helpful.

Thanks. Well I've managed to get a gearbox specialist to take a look on Monday, to see if it can be repaired or a new box is required. Im keeping lots of things crossed. But land rover repair people have basically said they won't touch the box as it's auto and i need to speak to gearbox...

But according to everybody i spoke to the company doesn't exist...

    4x4 specialist

Further investigation has reavealed the could be based in coleford or even cirencester. Checked the service book that came with the car an it's stamped with the address that is in my first post, but no phone number. Services were done in march 2012 and June 2009. So established for at least 3...

    4x4 specialist

That's the only Newland i seem to be able to locate in the UK. That's the address that is stamped in the service book only 10 months ago. I feel they may know or could have fitted an auto box (badly) to my td5. If it's been fitted in the last 12 months it could still be under warranty. They may...

    oil leak

The garage told my wife it was gearbox oil, i assume they know what they are talking about lol, although i know this isn't always the case. To me it doesn't look like engine oil, but im far from an expert on cars. There's no oil over the engine , top nor bottom, it all seems to be around the...

    oil leak

Still no reply from the seller. Mmmmmmm. So im hoping its not going to be an expensive job, bit identification of location of leak might be a good start. Have a number of a local guy who works on land rovers and who is apparently pretty good and cheap so a visit may be in order, just...

    oil leak

Thanks. Will have a look in daylight. The wife popped it to the garage for me and, i quote "it's coming from the top of the gearbox". That's it no more, no less. All I've managed to notice is oil sitting on and around the bottom of the two pipes, cross member and some kind of the"sump" that is...

    oil leak

Thanks for your quick response. It's definitely gearbox oil. And is sitting on the bottom of the bell housing, there are two pipes that run across the bottom by what looks like a cross member, oil is dripping off them as well and also i assume a gearbox sump. Im not and expert mechanic, but know...
