If you don't mind me asking what was wrong with yours, i didn't do any research before buying, i've learnt since the faults seem to be common on the freelander, head gasket had to be replaced and some kind of joint on the prop shaft had to be replaced, not sure what it's called a metal disc...

Does anyone know what length a dipstick for mk1 should be, i think the one i bought as a replacement is too short, i got it from a local parts shop to replace the existing one as the yellow plastic end was missing and i didn't compare the two before binning the old one.
