It's the right one, yes, been working a dream. It's got the right part number too etc - checked before buying it. Tach is fine, no pulsing at all. The "Alternator Fault" comes on only when I turn the ignition before actually cranking the engine and once the car is started I don't see it again...

Would there be any signs to look out for if it is defective ??

I would have thought that too! But I watched them do it and the battery cover wasn't even taken off! Doh !

Hi all, I had a new alternator installed today along with a new belt and ever since that the "Alternator Fault" comes up in the LCD display. The car is fine no battery light etc. Any ideas? It's a 1997 4.0SE with LPG. I'm guessing that I need to take the battery terminal off and back on...

Call me thick, but how do I test the height sensor? All 4 corners seem to be lifting up/down ok - so guessing this is the test? :confused: Will check in the compressor over the weekend. Is that easy to do? Any instructions on how to do that bit? Cheers Tris

Ok chaps, had a report back from the dealers. (who were actually pretty good) Their machine came up with one fault: "Faulty Right Height Sensor" He also said that it's now slow to raise itself up and down and therefore thinks that it could be the compressor on the way out. And he did...
