2000 TD5 Heater Issue - Going cold when stationary

Hello All, I have a similar problem, no heating when stationary. There is no sign of coolant loss, level remains steady. Also however, I get no cooling from the air con, thinking the system needs re-gassing. Would the two be related? Thanks

power steering (or lack of in flood water)

My Disco does this as well. Even after I had fitted a new belt and new tensioner. There is no indication of the belt slipping. Thoughts? Paul

    Oil loss on 300tdi

Hi all, I'm having a bit of trouble locating an oil leak on a 300tdi Disco. The oil appears to be coming from the front of the engine below the cylinder head. It pools on the lip of the sump and drips onto the front axle. I've removed the sump and re-sealed so I don't think it's that. Not being...

    Autobox issue on disco 300tdi

Just did mine as part of a service, but it does make quite a difference. If your oil is old it's viscosity will be greatly reduced, hence the pressure in the clutch packs will not be what it should be. This could be part of your problem. It's also a reasonably cheap way to find out if your box...

running costs of a f reg defender 300tdi

Hi Buxto, know how you feel. Just bought a M reg Disco 300tdi auto. Fork out £350 for a cam belt change then got hit with another £450 for a cylinder head jasket. However, that said I've just finished rebuilding pretty much the entire underside of the wagon, all the bushes, all the seals...

    common problems 300tdi advice

Leaky rocker covers is always a good one, and the poly belt tensioner is a prime candidate for causing a squeaky belt. Generally the 300tdi is a solid engine, just don't let it overheat, it really doesn't like that.

    Autobox issue on disco 300tdi

Easiest done on a ramp if you have access to one, if not jack the front axle up, place axle on axle stands, chock rear wheels. Best done after you have driven the car for a while to make sure the oil is warm. The sump for the autobox is located next to the handbrake drum just aft of the gear...

    Part identification please?

Thanks to all who replied. Oil was a bit smelly but was more concerned with the fact that it looked like thin treacle! Another little job added to the list. Greatly appreciate the help. Paul

    Part identification please?

Hi all, I have recently become the proud owner of my first ever Landrover (Disco 1 300tdi Auto) and am currently carrying out a fairly extensive underside rebuild. Done most of the jobs that I needed to do but have hit a small hurdle. Whilst carrying out an autobox fluid drain and flush I...
