Do the 3.6 TDV8 suffer from the same gearbox issues?

I'm in South East - Kent/East Suusex boarder. I've just done over £103k so far but the motor had £97k on it when I bought it.

It's a 2004 54 plate L322 TD6 Vogue The garage mentioned something about limp home mode - but I wonder then what would have caused this to happen. Also why it cleared and why no error reading on diagnostic test? Appreciate all the comments I'm getting - thanks.
