    I'm no expert but did a little research on this for my 3.5 efi 90. The fuel pressure regulator should hold pressure in the fuel rail about 36psi so as long as your pump can deliver more than that then should be ok.     OK next question, if this is a solenoid operated air valve for air con and its in a 90 with no air-con and not connected does that have any effect? should it be removed and bypassed or blanked off?

    bit more detail. its under the intake to plenum along the fuel rail, that's the thottle sensor to the right. its on a 3.5 efi flapper (4CU ecu) but i think it could some form of air solenoid valve or something from the hotwire (14CU/X ecu), hence not plugged in.

    Cheers Joe, going to Billing on saturday so will see if i can pick up some of these tools there, if not ebay next week! Just picked up some recon heads as they were a bargain and a friends diagnosis was that due to the amount of crud in the rocker covers that mine are probably history anyway...

    fair point - maybe should delete 'never' and edit my advice to "If you don't want to bite off more than you can chew only buy a hybrid if its build is fully documented and your buying from somebody with first hand experience of the vehicle who is prepared to walk & talk you through it".
