Checked it on Saturday again and found a leak on the power steering res, made temp repair with new jubilee clip and topped up fluid, that's got rid of the noise but obviously not got rid of the play. I would imagine that the when new there would of been no play ? Also went to give it a service...

no i am turning it from under the bonnet by hand on the steering rod coming down from the steering wheel , the power steering is also very noisy . Will have a play with it tomorrow to see how much play is at the wheel ( it dose'nt feel that bad at the wheel when driving). cheers.

where the steering rod goes in to the box you can turn it by hand about 1/4 to 1/2 a turn with no movement to the wheels , normal ?

Hi, I appear to have excessive play in the power steering box on my 1989 landy 90. Is this normal (first Landy !) or do I need a new power steering box ? If I strip down the box is it repairable ? My wife wont drive it until I sort it (good reason to just put up with it ! ) Thanks in advance.

Hi, thanks for all your advice, fluid levels good , double clutching fine on up change but no good for down changing, going to remove it from the beast next week and managed to get my mate to repay a favour whos a mechanic to replace the required bits . Result !

I have a problem with third gear, when you change from 2cd to third the gear box grates as it goes in, the only way it dosen't do it is to let the revs die to tick over first then put it in gear ( no good going up hills ! ). If you change from third to 2cnd it does it no mater what you do. I...
