    Introduce Yourself

hi everyone. Not a new member. Joined some years ago with a beaten up freelander 1 with a rover L series engine. Use to bloody leak everywhere lol. Sold the freelander 1 a few years back and been waiting to get another 4x4. After trekking around the country and getting stressed out speaking to...

    Pcv valve coated in oil

Hi, not been a while. I recently had the dreaded loss of power issue on an lseries engine. The pedal was hitting a power floor around 3500 rpm. So I replaced air and fuel filter and intercooler hoses. Still the same. Then removed maf sensor and took it for a drive and viola. Issue now is the...

    VDU and maybe IRD (again)

Think I'll go with Bell, 200 squid for a recon genuine one. Should I be replacing the bearings/supports? Is it worth me doing on my own or getting them to do it?

    VDU and maybe IRD (again)

Hi all, Not been here for a while. I 've finally got my wife a different car so I can have the freelander back. I'm pretty sure the VCU needs doing, but should I replace IRD as a precaution? Also interested to know about best prices? I heard freelanderspecialists are conmen. Who...

Steel Wheels and Tyres for Winter

Hi All, I have a 2000, 'W' reg XEDI Freelander. Looking for good value, but good quality steel wheels, with All Terrain tyres. What size can I put on my freelander? Will I need to use spacers or anything, I would prefer to put them straight on. Stefan

    Rear Wing Clip

Hello All, Just noticed a slightly loose rear wing trim piece. It connects to the body pannel by connecting two clips. The male petrudes from the panel and the female is held on the face of the trim piece. Where can I get these little female white clips? Regards...

    Tyres

Need a good deal on a set of tyres for a Freelander. I'm told that replace the front only is bad and will kill my diff and VCU. I'm local to West Sussex. I do mostly road driving country lanes and occasional motorway miles. Stefan.

**** stationary in the road after a corner!

As the title suggests someone was waiting for my gf side on in her lane! Anyway I'm sorting the car out. The damage I can see is bent metal work in the nearside engine bay (near the battery), cracked battery, bumper screwed, headlight assembly gone, ballance box (ram air box) broken, wing...

Periodic burning smell in front offside area

Just had new belts replaced, all of them. I don't think I have a FBH actually, it takes years to heat the cabin up on a cold day and plus it's an L series XeDi. I could burn the Freelander it would make these cold spring mornings more comfortable, but the journey to work may take some time. lol...

Periodic burning smell in front offside area

As the post suggest every now again then front offside smells of something burnt. I had an inspection and there was a drop of oil on the bottom of the oil filter? This smell/taste doesn't to happen in sync with anything else. I thought that it may be an oil leak onto a hot pipe in that area...

    Strange noise

thanks everybody! It's sounds like that could be it. I was just paranoid since it sounded like cogs. Stefan

    Strange noise

Not a dodgey gear change. It was in gear. The tyres are fine as far as im aware they're standard. It only happened when the car jerked from bouncing into the ditch on one tyre. If that makes sense. sounded like cogs for a few seconds. I thought it might be some torshonal force causing a...
