are your pipes in the boot on top of your tank corroded letting air in ive had similar problems with mine i wouldnt give up on it you will get to the bottom of it and it will be a beast again:)

my 53 disco had a problem with loosing air from air bags it wasnt obvious you couldnt hear it hissing or anything i changed air bags anyway for dunlop ones no more problem maybe you have a similar problem somewhere causing the compresser to over work its self

i reckon your best getting the details then doing a proper hpi check better be sure before you part with your hard earnt cash
