Hi Mondo Just cleaned my MAF with a degreasing spray and dried it with dry compressed air. Seems to to be working fine now.

My mistake, I've not looked very close. I just assumed that it got covered in ****e because it was before the filter. Is there any chance you've got a small hole in your turbo hose causing the smoke, I've heard this can happen. P.S I hope I don't sound like I'm trying to tell how to suck eggs...

£55 from the dealer, could of got it cheaper at Lucas parts but they couldn't match the part number. It turns out my new sensor has a new number which is recognised by lucas. however they wanted £45 so I've only lost a tenner.

I replaced the cam sensor today and the problem is fixed. No more sitting in ASDA carpark for 2 hours waiting for the engine/cam sensor to cool down.
