    clutch problem..any ideas?

Okay, should be able to tackle this now. Whilst working on it yesterday, I found that little bolt in the end of the pedal pin, took it out and gave the cavity a good dose of wd40. I might keep an eye on it 'till the weekend and see if its worked in, and try and get some oil in there too. If that...

    clutch problem..any ideas?

thanks steve, looks like might be best to take the whole bracket off, master cylinder an all. would it be best to disconnect the pipes where they join the cylinder? will brakes need bleeding as a result? T

    clutch problem..any ideas?

right, i've had a good look and based on the evidence, i think the pedal is seized. there's no dangle where there should be. its solid. until today i didn't even know where the pedal box was, so i'm feeling my way here. no sign of fluid, on pedal or around rubber on master cylinder. i could see...

    clutch problem..any ideas?

Thanks for all the helpful comments. I will be trying to put them into practice sometime over the weekend.. will let you know which one puts it right! (I hope!) T

    clutch problem..any ideas?

series 2a petrol swb has developed a sticky clutch. I can engage gear very well most of the time, but when letting the clutch pedal back up, it has started to stick. I've started the habit of lifting it up the last bit with my foot under the pedal. Today, when reversing up a short steep slope...

    Tailgate Chains - a question.....

Buy them too long and trim them to exact length you require when you fit them. They will make a racket when you drive on anything but good roads though. If you don't mind the noise, fine, but if you do, thread the chains through an old bike inner tube, works very well. You will also find that...

    suspension dillema..

Suspension problems sorted! Thanks forum! Have just returned from slackening all bolts on springs, jacking up, and then torqued to 70 ft lbs all round (thanks greenday). I also managed to stop the bonnet from bumping and rattling around, which was making the poor suspension seem worse. I...

    Re-glazing door tops

I'm mid way through doing mine at the moment. Got the kit from paddocks and even though they were the right ones, there still seemed to be an extra bit of 'flat' alli in the kit, which was not on the door tops i stripped down (one on original tops, 2 in each kit). I called paddocks and they said...

    suspension dillema..

Okay, it seems consensus is that shocks should be gaiter end to the top, which I have now done. Thanks for all the advice and links etc. I think I will follow your tip Greenday and I will slaken off the bolts on the springs, push the axle up till it lifts the chassis, and re tighten. I suppose...

    suspension dillema..

phoned paddocks this morning and their advice was to fit them with thick end at the bottom, so did that, got home and just read your comments! I took it for a spin again and I'm sure it felt better, but I may just be trying to convince myself. I don't see why it should make a difference, other...

    suspension dillema..

Thanks for the info. I've just discovered that I had put the front shocks on the back and vice versa.. pillock. Have now swapped over and taken for quick spin, seems better but a few more miles needed to be certain. This will sound ridiculous but I am right in thinking that the shocks go on...

    suspension dillema..

pps, the shocks were classed as 'extra long' on Paddocks web site, guess that is same as +2" ?

    suspension dillema..

Thanks Tig, you've made me check on the invoice from paddocks and i've found two things; 1, i did order a pair for the rear and a pair for the front. Thats the good news. Bad news is I forgot they came with front and rear difference, so now have to work out if they are on the right end! They...

    suspension dillema..

I'm gonna have to double check, but i think i got +2" es 3000's. They were def es 3000's from procomp, just not certain about the +2 bit. The front ones look very compressed in comparrison to the rears, but there is travel in them if you stand and bounce on front bumper, but difficult to...

    suspension dillema..

i got my mate, who's a salad dodger, to stand in the back when i did up the rears. Front ones I'm not sure now, think i bounced them, then got under and tightend up..

    suspension dillema..

Decided to change the suspension on my series 2a petrol swb from leaf springs to paras. After a very long weekend in the barn, I had the old ones off the rear, one of which was 11 leafs the other 9 (both fairly shot), and the front off, which were in better shape. I bought GME parabolics from...
