Big diameter exhausts aren't as great as people make out. For a Land rover where you don't rev it to bits you want to get the exhaust gas out quick and hot. A big pipe diameter means these gases cool down so you are pushing out cooler denser gas, restricting flow. Second is that the diesels...

Thanks that method worked. Bit of a fiddle to put the new one in. In the end i put the new spring in a vice, compressed it then put cable ties round it then cut them out when it was in. Dave

Blocked the fuel for the 9th injector ages ago. What I can gather is that the rubbers on the injectors are so perished that when I had it running little bits of rubber came off and went into them.

Yea I've got a spare fuel pump from a 2.25 I used to have so that should be fine and serviced the carbs. Just waiting to hear if the injectors can be fixed. I hope so. All the wiring is fine for the ecu. And I've re-wired all the injectors as well. I've just got to work out how the pipes go...

Found the problem! It was the injectors, most of them are stuck open flooding the engine immediately. I've tried cleaning them to no avail, but I have a spare inlet manifold with carbs so I'll put that on instead till I get the new engine. Unless anyone has any spare injectors lying around...

I had this. It turned out to be the alternator the bearings in it had gone. Dave
