    Dry Crankshaft

2 years ago at least I completed a complete rebuild of my 3.5 V8 efi engine. New crank from Rimmers, bearings, pistons etc, etc. Knowing that it would be quite a while before the engine was started, I used graphite assembly paste in all the bearings, When finished the engine turned over nicely...

    Suspension valve block electrics

pwood999- I am interlocking the door switches to my height control to drop to access height and operate my pneumatic side steps. My touch screen plc gives me constant read out of height and much better diagnostics. It also gives me better control over height without the complexity of normal RR...

    Suspension valve block electrics

Wammers - do you know what voltage they consider to be holding voltage. I don't think the soft close is strictly necessary as industrial solenoids don't have that. I could probably arrange for a lower holding voltage if that were strictly necessary. As I have the valve block located in the boot...

    Suspension valve block electrics

I am building a custom car based on a range rover, I will use the standard valve block for the suspension but I am going to use a touch screen PLC to drive it, and control lots of other things. Here's my problem, Paulp38a suggests that the feeds to the connector on the driver unit are 12v to...

3.9 v8 lpg water pipe lay out

I've done it the other way, as I was not sure whether it would reduce heater performance. I removed the rubber swan neck between the front of the manifold and the back of the pump. Then I bought two Silicon pipes with hockey stick bends on the end. Fit the manifold one to the vaporizer inlet...

Difference between 3.5 and 3.9 exhaust

Thanks Khryztal, my 3.5 Y-piece is rough so I want to buy a replacement, and so I was hoping that if I buy a 3.9 Y-piece it will mate to my tubulars. I take it your Double S are still using a standard 3.9 Y-piece.

Sealant on a new inlet manifold gasket?

You dont need any sealant arount the inlet ports, but the manual suggests that you should apply sealant where the gasket transitions from the head to the valley. When I did mine I used Hylomar and ran it around the water ports also because I am paranoid about water leaks

Difference between 3.5 and 3.9 exhaust

I have just aquired a set of tubular manifolds for my 1986 3.5 V8 EFI, but the outlet pipes are 2" which is bigger than my existing Y branch. Does anyone know if the 3.9 Y branch has 2" pipes and if so is there any reason I cant use one (like is it the same shape ). I don't know if the cross...

    V8 Piston Rings

I have a brand new set of rings Hepolite no 23416 for my 3.5 rover engine, but there is no way they will fit the grooves. My 1972 Hepolite catalogue says they should be 5/64" thick. I have the remnants of at least three sets of pistons but these rings dont fit any of them. Did they change the...

    whats pulsair?

I am rebuilding my 1986 3.5 engine and when I came to look at the heads I can see why there was always oil leaking, big notch accross the rocker box gasket face. I could fill it but I have a spare pare of heads which look identical except that they have some extra tappings into the exhaust...

    Need remote gearchange

Can anyone tell me if there is a viable way of moving the gearlever back about 6 inches on a five speed LT77 for a custom Range Rover. I presume that the SD1 remote does not fit, what about sherpas, or forward controls. The low ratio and diff lock I can take care of pneumatically. All...

    Air Suspension

I have a 1986 Vogue with coils suspension. Rather unusually I aim to convert to air, because I want to make it ride very low on the motorway. I would appreciate any advice on how to locate the air units in the spring mounts.
