Latest (over a week later) from Simon Services; The oil pump came away/stopped working!? Fixed Big end bearing replaced The turbo replaced They took it out for a road test, the engine ran great. Then, while on the r/t, she broke down again..! FUEL PUMP DIED!!! So another week up...

...and the world suddenly falls apart! Serious b/down on M1 prevents any further F/Pump investigation, now she's sat in a garage awaiting diagnostic/repair for suspected oil pump probs... I can see the £££'s rolling away as I type!

Its starts with the first turn the key whilst waiting for the glow plugs to warm, then on ignition gets louder...

Filling the tank deadens the noise to a quite hum. As the tank empties it gets louder, to the point that pedestrians look round at red lights etc, (but for the wrong reason!:o)

Thanks for that Ratty, but I did that during my last intrim service with no effect. (Nearly killed the battery trying to prime it again afterwards IIRR!)

Ok, this is what has actually happened to me; no eco bull; no financial expert sales patter... In my TD5 110 I drive 250m per week (1000m p/m). This has cost me around; £200 a month at 70mph £180 a month at 60mph £160 a month at 50mph I've trialled this and to me its £40 in my back...
