I haven't looked it up, but i can't believe an l322 weigh's anything like 3 ton, a p38 only weighs just over 2 ton. Just had a look on google, an l322 is about 2.6 ton unladen, but has a fully laden rating of 3.1 tons, maybe this is where th confusion is?
