    It runs for about 30+ seconds then cuts out. We had the diagnostic check and thats what the garage came up with......the fuel pump overheating which in turn burnt the relay out.

    I think what we need to know is, does the tank have to be removed in order to replace the pump and can it be done while on the ground, also is there a way to change the pump without taking the tank off. To be fair not all jobs are possible by the diyer because of access and special tools but...

    Aup, a bit cheeky being a newby but a question.......could a fuel pump in a P38 be replaced as a do it yourself, its my sons r r and there is no way he can afford the garage bills of 400 quid+. Appreciate all replies. Thanks landyzone.

    Priorities........a virtual drink for all + some olive oil for the landy:). I dont have a proper off-roader, its a cr-v for the caravan and dog. My main purpose for joining was to ask you, on behalf of my son who has a Range Rover, if it is possible to change the fuel pump without a huge garage...
