Is it possible to remove the transfer box with the gearbox in situ, just to make it lighter as I'm working alone and with just a trolley jack? Also, I'm thinking maybe to slide the gearbox back still on the crossmember, just to get a hand to the input shaft. both of them will work it could...

to ne honest my next choice would be the come up winches which are exactly the same as super winch and for 2 x 12s would of been 700 quid with warrantee and sattelite remotes from winch masters in hull
