Hi, just wondering if anybody has any expereience with Extreme Terrain winches. Saw one for a reasonable price but don't know the brand. What weight rating should i go for - defender 110.
Thanks,

i have a Extreme Terrain winch on mine the 12000 pound one never had any problems and it has done a lot of work

could you post a link? Its likely to be a rebadged something or other straight from the far east. 9.5k should be plenty. well it is on a "tested" known brand. Im running a Warn M8000 and it pulls an overland 90 out of the **** no problem.

I have seen a 12k T max not budge a RRC so i used the Warn to get him out. not sure what happened there.

Make sure you have good cables and upgrading to an albright may be better if you do alot of wading.

yer there quite good iv got 2 x 12.000,s front en back with plasma rope never let me down bit slow but most standerd 12s are

tmax are budget winchs if you are restricted on price, but my way of thinking is buy cheap buy twice, save up and buy the best you can afford,i run a warn xd9000 and i fink its superb, friend has a husky winch on his 90 and when he got stuck the husky was so slow we could have fell asleep so we connected my winch to him aswell and used both winchs to recover him but i had to keep stopping winching to enable his winch to catch up it was painfully slowwww.snatch block always a good idea

Must say that My old T max type cheapo winch has done me very proud. Had been used and abused for over 4 years but with regular servicing and water proofing the electrical box its done me well. at our local pay and play site I winched out a 90 that was dead and up to its doors in water and mud 3 range rover classics on dumper tyres tried to snatch it with no success. Hooked my winch up and it flew out it makes a difference how its wired I have replaced all battery cables to double their original thickness added another battery I believe makes a huge diffenence. Although I doubt very much its as good as a Warn but will be replacing the internals and motor with modified Warn ones when it gives out but the thing will not die!

to ne honest my next choice would be the come up winches which are exactly the same as super winch and for 2 x 12s would of been 700 quid with warrantee and sattelite remotes from winch masters in hull
