    Winter reliability?

    Another reason I want a defender 90 is to get me through the winter months without troubles. Are defenders a robust car that would indeed do this? e.g. start first time in cold conditions having not been run for a couple of weeks? Or is this just a general danger to any vehicle - batteries...

    'twould be used as a run around and nothing to arduous. Maybe try a green laning or something as I've never done. Generally speaking though I'd be on the roads.

    Indeed the question that lingers in my head is whether to bother looking at car dealers. With the lower end price range I would be hard pressed to find anything with land rover dealers I guess. Best a question for the boards and/or a little read up on the plethora of information here.

    Oh and that fact that I know nothing about motors would mean I must get something that wont require a lot of work. But I would be willing to learn and get my hands dirty as a learner and build my knowledge etc etc

    I guess i would realistically be looking from 2000-5000. I want to be able to get something reasonable that will not require a complete overhaul I guess. I drive a crappy little Fiesta at the moment and would not mind replacing that before winter kicks in.
