    P38A 4.0 to 4.6 thor or....

Hi all I have a 51 plate Westminster which is in many ways a brilliant car. The only shame is they fitted it with the 4.0 block... should have been a 4.6! The engine at the moment, apart from a rocker gasket weep, doesn't get hot, uses no water or oil and sounds as sweet as a sewing machine...

    P38A Diagnostics kit

Hi Guys loads of views on this - and threads too - but is there a definitive diagnostics tool that you'd recommend for a 2001 (51 plate) 4.0? I'd like access to as much as possible in order to read/reset fault codes and set up things like HeVAC after replacement etc. I hear BBS are the last...

P38A P38 Satnav White Screen FIXED

Also - what's the wiring you've spliced into the sat nav loom there? Looks quite handy!

P38A P38 Satnav White Screen FIXED

Thanks for the pic but nope - at the back right of the pic just beneath the pillar trim you can see another blue multiplug block attached to a vertical black metal rectangle? That rectangle is the uppermost part of a frame into which this traffic master system appears to be bolted - I'll try and...

P38A P38 Satnav White Screen FIXED

Hi all I recently purchased a 2002 Westminster. The SatNav computer was missing from the boot and the PO informed me his garage had blown it by disconnecting the battery before it had powered down so all he had was a blank white screen. He'd just not bothered replacing it, apparently, but a new...

3.6 TDV8 engine failure and a cautionary tale

Pretty sure it's very rare indeed. I've never heard of it happening to anyone else's but I'm sure datatek, wammers or Saint V8 might have? Otherwise can't fault the TDv8 - IMHO it's the best engine the Range Rover has ever had.

3.6 TDV8 engine failure and a cautionary tale

Good point datatek but genuinely the coolant levels never appeared to be an issue - given the time frame we're talking a very slow gradual loss of fluid over a number of years. It would have been topped up when necessary during its servicing. But no, at no point did a poke under the bonnet...

3.6 TDV8 engine failure and a cautionary tale

Thought I'd share this as it may be of use to some of you although it's probably a unique failure only ours had! However there is a cautionary tale here regarding LandRover and stealers. In 2009 we bought a brand new L322 TDV8 Westminster with extended warranty which was and still is a simply...

NON START: CKP sensor ? Inj Pump U/s ?

Just to really make you chuckle of that £1600 £270 was 'diagnostics'. Yep. £270 just to tell me I needed to spend more. Hand on heart that's the last time I took a vehicle to a stealer. Burned my faith they knew what they were doing and offered the most professional service. They don't.

NON START: CKP sensor ? Inj Pump U/s ?

A good point well made! Enough to learn the lesson now. 300tdi Soft dash. Yes, I have to keep on top of welding - although have taken to replacing rather than patching now - and yes it's clattery but simple and mostly easy. And it has a charm all its own.

NON START: CKP sensor ? Inj Pump U/s ?

Reamed well and truly chaps. Was taken to a main stealer hence the bill. And just for clarity 'well spent' was said with the greatest irony! Figured it was worth pish all as a non runner so I sucked it up and sold it almost straight away. After the new engine and a catalogue of other failures...

NON START: CKP sensor ? Inj Pump U/s ?

While I realise this isn't perhaps the most helpful response my old 2000 4.6 refused to start. Cranked and cranked but wouldn't fire. Test book revealed that, for whatever reason, the BeCM woke up that morning and decided it was: a) French b) Left Hand Drive c) Fitted with a different...

    P38 Overheating

Certainly sounds like it's over pressurising which would indicate something getting in from somewhere it shouldn't. Cooling systems should generally be considered 'closed loop'. Agree with all the above - hydrocarbon test of the coolant and a check to see if you've got some immaculate plugs...

    RRC Electric seat loom

Thanks Saint - that's a brilliant resource there. I've traced the seat loom from both sides back into the main loom on the donor car, but it's not as simple as I'd hoped. I'd been crossing my fingers for a connection into the loom but alas no. It's looking like it'll be a dash-out job to...

    RRC Electric seat loom

Thanks Kev - I guess I'll get to that stage later! First off I just need to know if I can relatively easily add the sub loom to the main harness. Going to try and trace it up into the main dash and see what's what tonight. I was told it all worked prior to being de-commissioned. The window...

    RRC Electric seat loom

Thanks Saint - any diagrams greatfully viewed! Seems there's lots of thoughts on this one, looking around the forum, but a bit of a lack of simple answers!

    RRC Electric seat loom

Thanks guys - the donor vehicle is complete in every way so all I've done is unplugged the seats from the donor and bolted them down - temporarily - in mine without power. All the ECU's and boxes etc are present as is the loom. I'm hoping that if I trace the sub loom for the seats through the...

    RRC Electric seat loom

Good morning all I have a 1995 RRC vogue with very worn out manual seats. I've since procured an entire SE soft dash from '94 which is comedy rotten but has an immaculate leather interior. My loom comes wired for the heater elements in the leathers, but not the motor functions. Now, I...

    Upper tailgate

Hello all Quick one - what screws fit the upper tailgate? I'm replacing mine and the originals are currently in there so will need drilling. What size screw is needed to screw the upper hinge to the frame - or what part number etc? Thanks!
