is it a td5? you could well be looking at a cracked head if you are getting fuel in the water:eek:

i,ve had similar on a disco 1 300tdi where water had got into the motor and seized it, voltage to the motor was correct but as it had seized it was no go so i swapped it out

my 98 300tdi front sunroof rattles (and leaks:confused: ) but the rear one does not rattle (but it does leak) the only thing i could see was some the plastic runners? wheels? in the mech were maybe more worn in the front one as its used more than the rear I am about to embark on a strip out of...

Go for new you should get a parts warranty on it then and there not that much money i think i paid about £60 for the last one i did but that was 2 years ago
