Just want to thank you all for your help and suggestions, I have fixed the problem. Just got the old t4 diag equipment out at work and it disabled slabs no problem :)

Yeah I hear you man, I've worked as a tech for land rover for 3 years now and the only way I can learn about the older stuff now like the series and all the rest of it, is for me to strip it apart, we've still got all the workshop manuals and special tools, we just dont see that stuff anymore. :)
