Thanks, I'll take look, I've had my suspicions on that, something is worn and out of tolerance. The first event, the LR shop had to remove the lock set to get in to the shop and the mechanic said it wouldn't work in his hand till he cleaned it with WD40. Regards to North Ireland D Dougherty

I bought my 02 Freelander new, it now has 65k miles, and I have had only one problem which just occurred this week, the ignition key locks-up when the wheels are turned a bit. Rotating the steering wheel releases the mechanism and the key is free to start the car. It is annoying

I have a 2002 freelander had the same problem the batteries in the keyfob were low. It states so in the manual.

Check your brake rotor, if it is blue or scored or has a high front edge you have a brake pad problem. Brake piston could be hung up, in that case have a pro do a break replacement and check the tolerance on the rotor for replacement.

OBTW good luck driving in Greese, (insane) Been there done that never again! You have to not care about anything or anyone in Athens.

Just had the same problem, check the rear differential mounts. Had one replaced yesterday and the thump stopped. "Olakala" as the greeks would say.
