My 2002 Freelander is having ignition key issues. Intermittently the ignition key locks up and I can not turn the key. I had to have it towed to the LR shop, they pulled, cleaned and lubed the key lock set and it worked fine for about a month.
Yesterday the problem returned and I managed to get it to start by pulling hard on the steering wheel, and drove it to the LR shop again, but they could not duplicate the problem , so they pulled and cleaned it again, They informed me that sometimes if the wheels are turned a bit the steering binds the lock set, hence the key won't turn. I drove to various locations, the key worked fine. I returned home to my driveway, parked and thought I'll give it a try once more(the wheels were not turned ). It Locked up again, until I jerk the steering wheel till it lets go
My question: is there some adjustment that can be made to relieve pressure on the lock set?
