The fact that landrovers are used as daily drivers, and in harsh conditions, is the reason I chose to oil the items rather than polish or lacquer, it means they can be easily re-oiled or sanded back and re-oil of necessary. The dog problem I can't help with unfortunately.

All sorted now, had somehow corroded a couple of the connector block in the dash, contact cleaner and a wire brush was the solution. thanks for the help.

Afternoon all. My headlights weren't switching from sidelights to dipped beam, I located the issue to a faulty relay. A friend had a spare relay from a disco 1 so thought I'd give that a try, I have now lost all power to the headlights, no dipped or main, they show as working in the cab but...
