    Gearbox shennanigans

Hi all, couple years back the disco 2 had a brief struggle selecting gears. Then wouldn't select any gear. Took it to Bristol Transmissions- supposed to be the dogs... They charged me for a complete rebuild. 18k miles later, on the motorway there was a clunk and now 1st, 2nd (maybe 3rd) and 5th...

    Prop shaft confusion

Yup, got the grease nipple, though not much use as a prop shaft fitted at 90 degrees to design forces the articulation to work against itself and break the weakest point- the join in the cardan between the two spicers. Waiting for the vendor to get back to me as what I have is as much use as...

    Prop shaft confusion

Self-resolved. Take care when buying pattern parts. Unit supplied was sent out from the factory 90 degrees out of phase. Or, as we say in our house - set up to fail immediately.

    Prop shaft confusion

Hi guys, I’ve had an epic fail with the front prop shaft. I knew it needed some love, but work didn’t permit. Well, it broke. Bought a replacement- pattern part and fitted it. It sounds awful- like a bag of spanners. Is it incorrectly phased? I didn’t change spline alignment from out of the box...

    Bristol ball ache

Eh up, got a lower ball joint to replace, got her stripped down but can’t get the old one out with any amount of ignorant force, penetrating fluid or heat. Anyone in the Bristol area have a ball joint press? Thanks for looking! Matt.

    Bizarre central locking fault

Thanks Sierrafery, I’m tracking down an IDM now as well as looking for alternative transport whilst I de-gremlin the beast.

    Bizarre central locking fault

Thank you guys. A couple of links to chase down. I spotted someone talking about a magic internet fixing wand on one thread. Anyone know where I might find this?

    Bizarre central locking fault

****widgets. That’s a ball acher. I see Turner Diagnostics do an exchange service. Are there any other tests I can do or should I just have the BCU out and send it off?

    Bizarre central locking fault

That’s the little bugger. Further observations- fob makes the interior lights come on and that red led flash rapidly. Which is nice, but I’d prefer the doors opened and the indicators work...

    Bizarre central locking fault

Hey guys, woke this morning to the alarm going off, no shenanigans observed. Though the fob failed to do anything. Alarm silenced went back to bed. Later, fob won't unlock doors, changed battery and tried spare key - nothing. Key opens door and engine starts but can't open any other doors, and...

    Heaters going cold

Chris, I had a coolant leak in mine and once the levels got low the heater stopped blowing hot but the gauges read nominal. Worth a look before calling the coastguard . Matt

    Chasing down electrickery gremlins

Again, many thanks. Have located a replacement for a tenner. So shall dispense with testing. Says in the book of lies and inadequate photography that steering wheel retaining nut needs to be discarded and replaced. Any idea why this might be the case?

    Chasing down electrickery gremlins

Thanks for that. I have a Haynes book of lies and inadequate photography which has no help on this. Tinterweb has em for sale. Any advice on fault finding before replacement?

    Chasing down electrickery gremlins

Hi guys, got an electrical issue I'm hoping can be resolved. The SRS light started coming on then the horn and the stereo controls stopped working. I've checked the fuse, good. Could this be a dodgy earth issue or might it be a common fault? Cheers!

Pneumatic SquishKnockers and the muddle of woe

It seems my speech needs simplification and my hopes clarification. I was told the compressor was at fault, a replacement unit would be £600 plus labour and the timeframe not commensurate with getting to work and a cost not attractive. I know the compressor is still active and had gathered...

Pneumatic SquishKnockers and the muddle of woe

Neilly, Thanks for the swift response. Parasitic drain test not performed since strange clicking observed. Click coming from Wabco box under passenger seat (external). I believe that she was reprogrammed for springs as there have been no warning lights in evidence and I was told...

Pneumatic SquishKnockers and the muddle of woe

Hi guys, I gather air suspensions is a somewhat 'lively' topic on the forum and some newbies distinguish themselves by asking those who know to reinvent the wheel for them when a comprehensive manual has been offered to avoid duplication and time wasting. So, with some trepidation, I offer up...
