    LATEST NEWS REGARDING "TOMCAT" ALAN

One and all. Thanks for your support on this one. I don't mind drafting a narrative for at least the first of these having done a bit of amateur copywriting in a past life. I'm suggest doing the Wammers one first and so anyone - 'specially MOZZ' who can fill in the blanks. - Age...

    LATEST NEWS REGARDING "TOMCAT" ALAN

Please excuse me if I am offending protocol with this post....... But may I ask our Mods and Masters to consider honouring the likes of Tomcat and Wammers with a 'Lest we forget' sticky? These guys are the grass roots building blocks of sites like LZ and it is their technical knowledge...

Thanks Dt That'll be a place to start next time I'm on it. I need to do a proper job on this so a plan for alternative transpost is becoming a must.

Thanks again Dan, the heater is out of the line at present fro me to fix the 'o' rings. I'll try and find those connectors at the base of the A Pillars. Plan is to put this on back burner for now and use the FL or an MGF which we've recently acquired. Sometimes you've just gotta walk away and...

P38A 'Engine disabled' message on dash.

Thanks Dan, for your luck and advice. Battery brand new (from the last time we had the problem) All electrical components look like new. I'm thinking damp. Question: All sources say BECM is under the right hand seat where it shouldn't be able to get wet. However, others on here refer to...

P38A 'Engine disabled' message on dash.

Here's an update on 'the Duchess.' Whilst waiting for Blackbox to replace the Nanocom (which they did without issue) all of the functions came back, one by one. Even the remote locking. So the car was brought back into service alongside our Freelander 2. I must say that, much as I enjoy...

P38A 'Engine disabled' message on dash.

Wow! That's out of my comfort zone! I'm relying on my son to sort this out. It hasn't even been connected to the car yet. Blackbox say try a 'firmware update' but he tells me that hasn't worked. The car has has stuff connected to its OBD in the past with no problems. I'm grateful for the...

P38A 'Engine disabled' message on dash.

I should have said that I'm attributing the good news so far to getting her ignition 'flaps' cleaned out and to the better weather resolving a bit of 'dampness' around the BECM. Cue the double entendres.......... All in all another Landyzone victory.

P38A 'Engine disabled' message on dash.

By way of an update 'The Duchess' is back on the road! Day by day the errant messages disappeared, functions of things like windows & sunroof corrected themselves so away we went. Now using it for my thrice weekly commute to the restoration shop BUT I still don't have the bottle to use...

That's an interesting idea! Had a problem with those on an A Class Merc. The sensors 'saw' rain on the glass and triggered the alarm. Not too popular at 3 a.m. I solved it by covering them with grey Gaffer tape. Never happened again.

Freelander 2 (LR2) Greetings from Cardiff

Thanks Nodge, The rear diff is nice and quiet. Convincing evidence of receipts for work done too, although more on an 'as and when' basis than to any proper service plan. I sorted the timing belt/water pump immediately as well as crank case breather. Haldex probably next week, then rest of...

Freelander 2 (LR2) Greetings from Cardiff

I come to you from over the page on the Range Rover part of the forum. Cutting a long story etc... Our P38 (the Duchess) has been with us for about 6 years now but when our new Granddaughter arrived we discovered that neither the Rangie or SWMBO's Rav 4 had ISO fittings for the baby seat...

P38A Anyone know if the M52 in the p38 will run on veg oil (SVO)?

I used to run my old Pajero on cooking oil but I stopped doing it because I was putting on weight. Our driveway/garage area smelled like a Chinese takeaway........ and I love a Chinese!

P38A 'Engine disabled' message on dash.

Nanocom arriving on Tuesday. In the meantime I thought I'd 'air' the interior - windows/sunroof open. Put the key in and it started fine. Flashed up 'alarm fault' for the first start, now it starts on the button. No spurious messages. That's frustrating but I thought I'd drive it to work...

Another try today, 'til rain stopped play. Retrieved the receiver and opened the case. Able to verify that it is the YWY500170 with a green spot. Also checked that there is a 12v permanent supply in the purple wire. All connections look good, No burnt circuits and no damp in there...
