P38A Poor starting - too much fuel

Merry Christmas to the LZ massive! My 97 P38 4.6 played up for the first time ever yesterday leaving me stranded in the local B&Q car park. Started fine, first spin, then idled at about 800 rpm as it always does (did?) Pulling away the engine bogged down and began chugging like a petrol car with...

P38A Gearbox Woes, No low range

P38A Gearbox Woes, No low range

Good evening to the LZ massive. I need some advise on the next new problem. I have replaced the complete gearbox/transfer box from my old P38 to the 'new' one as it had a really sharp gear change from 3rd to 4th. Since doing this, I don't have any low range selection. The dash doesn't bleep, no...

    P38A Torque converter oil seal

Thanks jamesmartin/ Wammers, should have left it well alone, don't think it was leaking before, but the gearbox has been unused for 12 months so replaced it as a precaution - oops

    P38A Torque converter oil seal

Good Afternoon LandyZone Peeps, would anyone have a part number/know of a good place to buy? a torque converter oil seal for a 4.6 auto gearbox? I have just swapped the box on my P38, replaced the oil seal with one from a local seal/bearing specialist, and it pee's oil out after 50 miles of...

    Gearbox issue.......maybe

It only seems violent on the up shift between third and forth, haven't noticed it on downshift, but then again not really taken much notice. I now have a spares car, so I will have a go at service/Lucas additive first, if that doesn't work I will swap gearboxes. It seems there is always...

Thanks, I will give that a whirl. :)

    Gearbox issue.......maybe

Just picked up a 97 4.6HSE, collected from Manchester and drove down to Southampton with no problems, gear change seemed nice and smooth (in fact, much nicer than my other one) BUT, if I select sport mode, when it changes from 3rd to 4th it's like it 'dumps the clutch' even though it's auto (it...

the money pit.........a tale of heart ache and expense

A small, but probably not so interesting update.... I have fitted the new gas vaporiser, plumbed it and yay, all sweet (even the tickover is nice now) Quick question, but I have fitted two new thermostats in the last few weeks as the bottom of the rad is pretty much cold even after a 5/6 mile...

    Key switch query

Brilliant, many thanks Rick. Stupid question No 325, what is the coil around the ignition barrel and small circuit board for?

the money pit.........a tale of heart ache and expense

If there is a support group, I'm in. I'm also on the look out for another, might make a good one out of two and have spares 😆

    Key switch query

Not so much, I have owned the car for a couple of months, and prior to removing the battery the CL worked on the fob, I didn't try the key in the door, just assumed it worked. I feel slightly soopid but I do now have a door handle/lock, key and ignition switch from a scrap car

    Key switch query

I am hoping the LZ collective can answer this? I have issues with re-syncing my key after removing the battery, and have since found one of the previous owners has changed the drivers door handle, which means I cannot lock the car with the ignition key (and re-sync the key so I can use the fob)...
