Nope- not at all, the VCU has 2 carrier bearings with 2 bolts each thats it.

    Freelander 1 New problem.

OK all, so I checked the battery voltage, at 10V. then the car only just started, then checked the voltage during the engine running and it was 9.3V not changing. so I suspect the Alternator. the plugs all looked good and in a good place.

    Freelander 1 New problem.

Hi Hippo, I found this on another site, looks like your reply, IF you are Hippo else where: http://forum.landrovernet.com/showthread.php/195079-Freelander-03-Hill-decent-light-and-F4 As this appears to be exactly my problem, I will measure the battery first, and then look at the plugs...

    Freelander 1 New problem.

Ok, will get to that, would this likely cause the problem with the gear box, if battery is a bit low.

    Freelander 1 New problem.

So here I am again, last few days, the 2.5 V6 hasnt been starting so freshly, I had suspected the battery was getting old, today the car started and the battery light stayed on, also the 3 amigos, i went for a drive around the block, and the display for the gear select on the dash, kept flicking...

    Car shaking to bits

Hi All, so with a new set of tyres, the fault seems to be more constant, above 80kmh there is the shake, so far havent been much above that. due to my next post, problem

    Car shaking to bits

That's the next thing, tyres. I put the prop-shaft back on after replacing the VCU carrier bearings(95% sure its all back the same as when it came apart) , and now about 50KMh the car shakes, I have noticed on a left turn whilst with power it stops shaking, not so on a right turn. The tyres...

    Car shaking to bits

I am getting a new set of tyres soon, to see. but then will plan to change the left and right mounts, i am feling the mounts more, sometimes cant figure if it from the front or the back. I dont think to get to the drive shafts unless this doesnt work.

    Car shaking to bits

So to all, I have replaced the tie rod, and it appeared improved, but now it has more of a pattern when it happens. Currently when it happens , it is more lumpy than vibration. It is definitely worse when adding power on small to large inclines, releasing the pedal removed the problem, but of...

    Car shaking to bits

I have ordered the Tie rod mount after looking through some more threads, and new VCU support bearings. I will try the tie rod mount first, then I will go for tyres, I want to do it in steps , to see if I can actually find one cause, of course it might be a collection of items, we will see.

    Car shaking to bits

SO, I have removed the propshaft, and the effects are much reduced, now the vibration does occur, but has more of a pattern to it, higher rpm and lower speeds and after about 50mph, it is virtually gone, on the highway it is fine. so beginning to suspect the tyres condition, and will look at the...

    Car shaking to bits

had the prop shaft off last summer, with no problems, so will take it off again and see how it runs, and replace the bearings/bushings. Also will put the bigger wheels to the back, whilst in the air. cheers

    Car shaking to bits

So managed to get it in the air, didnt manage to balance wheels, did wiggle everything, all seems solid enough, managed to tighten the nut in the front drive shafts, a small bit. did notice that the propshaft could be pushed up enough to touch the vehicle, around the VCU, so maybe slightly...

    Car shaking to bits

Thanks for the ideas. On way home I did some experimentation after it started. It is normally worse after a right hand bend/corner and accelerating out, above 1500rpm. when in a straight line and above 1700rpm, if i completely let off the accelerator, then it stops almost instantly, when i...
