    Series 2a restoration

I wish I had more money:mad: Stripped the other RH brake drum. Dust cap had been glued on - full of oil. Brake drum all gooey and obvious leaking from piston (thanks again Davidss). Oil in dust cap suggests a bigger problem and I think Blackburn is probably right that the stub shaft is worn...

    Series 2a restoration

Thanks again for the great advice. When I pulled the rubber dust cap off one end of the cylinder it was all clean, the other end was chokka with clear brake fluid, so I suspect this is my problem. Looking at the bearing seals all seems OK, so I'm hoping I can get away with it. I'll do more...

    Series 2a restoration

Many thanks for the advice. I left the dampers hanging in the compressed position for 48 hours. When I tried to pull them out the movement was jerky and there was a grinding/graunching noise, so I guess they are all knackered. I have now taken the axles off. One of the housings for the...

    Series 2a restoration

Thanks for this great advice. The dampers are upright. I'll definitely lube the springs too still struggling with what to do on the cross member I know its difficult to give an opinion. Approximately 25% of the rear face is rotten - same with the inside face. Top and bottom are OK. I guess this...

    Series 2a restoration

Got down to the bare bones of the chassis today. Took all of the dampers off. I'm used to motorcycle shocks and assumed all the dampers would return to their original position if compressed. But there's no spring in any of mine - is it possible they can all be knackered? If you tell me they...

    Series 2a restoration

Thanks I'll take a look to see if I can see any wear, but not quite sure it I'll be able to tell. Hopefully it'll be obvious if it is worn?

    Series 2a restoration

I have finally taken the engine out. Just the axels to go. Is there anything I should do to the engine while it is accessible?, should I replace the clutch? and should I paint the engine?

    Series 2a restoration

Hi I'm new to the site. I'm 15 and after many months of badgering my Dad I managed to persuade him to ditch the summer holiday in favour of buying a 2a which i could restore. After filling his inbox with links to numerous barn finds he finally fell for a 1969 2a with a 2.8 daihatsu diesel...
