2.25 petrol. There are loads of used electric pumps on fleabay. Reservoir incorporated, so installation dead easy.

We swapped a morris minor engine and gearbox by the side of the m32 in 1978. Three idiot blokes, rope sling, scaff pole. All done in less than an hour. 😬😬😬

Yeah, I get you - but in some ways it would be easier to lift the front than hoist it out. I have jacks! But wiggling past the axle looks tricky..... Moving said vehicle isn't an option. 🤬

Yup. Same forging stamp. Each rod has a (assume factory) single digit stamped large. I wondered if there was, perhaps, a different axial offset in the big end face machining or something.

Can anyone tell me what the differences are between the numbered conrods? I think my no.3 is bent...... see my previous thread for the carnage. 😆 And does anybody have one?

It's a very low miles per year utility vehicle that we use for beekeeping - if it was being used for anything more onerous, I'd go for sleeving it back to standard.

Thanks. I have 4 new piston +40 assemblies from Paddock at £15 each, which is hard to argue with!

UPDATE: After a short hiatus, I got the remainder of the dead piston out..... Looks like the initial failure has been there some time and is between the two oil holes at the bottom of the oil control ring groove. I speculate that there may have been a "cold shut" in the casting, or a sharp...

Indeed. Old ones look perfect. This engine hasn't done many miles.

All bores +040. All look good, but subject to another inspection with better light. I can't feel anything..... I'm still dithering! 😂😂😂
