just a thought Is your radiator getting hot all over,The viscous coupling needs the heat off the radiator to work A bit like an ellec fan not coming in when a engine is hot because the part of the rad the thermo switch is in isn't hot enough

If you are a tight git like me you can pop open the relay with a small screw driver, Then carefully pull a strip of fine sand paper/wet n dry through the contacts, wash it all down with WD40 and bingo ,like new (ish ) done it loads of times :D

have you checked your not running a 9v coil without a ballest on a 12v system ,thus knacking it

probably a different problem but i couldnt get my prop off due to the slider being seazed ( my fault lack of maintenance }
