    Opinions Please

So I am contemplating a move from London to the Southwest (Cornwall) I may need to reconsider my transport situation. I currently have a 2001 P38 DHSE that I have renovated and has been a good workhorse. It has 148000 miles on it and a the moment it is running faultlessly and is good to...

    P38A Not seen this before...

I think it would have been even better if Hammond was still in the car when they were banging away with those AI .50 calibre rifles :)

P38A Should I fiddle with this.........

Hi This unit on the side of the FIP (2001 2.5 Diesel) is weeping very slightly, on closer inspection it looks like someone has lashed a different bolt in there, should I remove and clean/Replace the seals or just replace the bolt with a proper button head and leave well alone? It's running...

    Drag link replacement

Ah yes you're right Keith, now I remember the hoses were already off my car at the time, brings back some bad memories

    Drag link replacement

Yes it turns clock wise for removal, position the spanner on the nut and give it a sharp tap I would just pop a bit of card board on the face of the rad when you remove the fan, just stops the VC unit biting the Rad surface, once you loosen the fan, from memory I think you pop the top clips...

    DSE Crank Bolt

Also a must is to use the special tool to hold the hub when you tighten up, the sprocket is held on by a silly little woodruff key that can be damaged by the incorrect tightening procedure. My local Land Rover Dealer very kindly lent me the tool and it's a big beefy bit of kit its Number is...

    Death wobble!?

I have just done the London to Cornwall run in mine and the violent shuddering is now cured. The fitting of a quality Bilstiein steering damper has sorted it, but all bushes and steering links at the front are new as well so I think it all adds up. I replaced all my prop UJ's in an attempt to...

    Death wobble!?

Hi Tilo As to the diff backlash I am not sure, I noticed the same on mine when going through various process' to sort the scary shuddering. I have had the wobbly seat syndrome since I have had the car, again there seems to be no definitive answer, it comes on at about 63mph 2200rpm and...

    Violent Shuddering at speed

Hi Yes have chased all around the houses trying to sort this, the Hurricanes are correct as they match the original in the spare well. Have a look at my post on page 4 which I think outlines the cause and the cure, so far it's worked for me........fingers crossed

    Violent Shuddering at speed

Just to close this thread and as a possible solution, this post from another forum. I have changed out the generic steering damper for a quality Bitstein Seems to be working so far, be very happy if it solves this problem I had the same problem years ago on my 98SE. Freeway speed, drive over...
