    Tappets,

Oil pressure is 25. Just upon start-up, for like 1 second when I gun the engine, I hear clunckety, clunckety, like there is no oil for a second and then sound stops and idles nicely.

    Tappets,

Okay, I ran through the gears while red lever in neutral. I did not hear the clickety sound at the top of each rev as much. It seems more prominent when I'm driving and car is actually moving in gear. I made a better recording and video, and I've uploaded it here...

    Rivets

Hi Guys ! Looks really nice. Can I ask a naiive question about rivets? I only have a pop riveting hand tool. So I could use this for something, I suppose (I have never tried it yet). In doing the kind of job you did above, would that be a two person job? I have done rivets and snaps in...

    Tappets,

I'll try this. It's a great idea. I do hear the noise for a half a second when I first start the engine, however as it idles, even revs in idle, the noise is not there. I'm going to do as you say with the transfer lever in neutral, and see what happens. Super idea. (And I'll record the whole...

    Tappets,

Okay, I will do this. Also, the weather finally has improved and tomorrow I'll use my high quality audio recorder to get the sound from different spots around the engine. This will be an interesting project, because I'll then edit it into a short video and post on youtube. Thanks for your...

Okay, thanks! That's going to be my project then. To fabricate one of those. Thanks!

    Tappets,

POS - I'm really worried about my engine. I have a Series 2A with the 2.25 Liter petrol engine. I've never taken the valve cover off, and I'm fairly new to maintenance (I did change the exhaust manifold once a long time ago on my previous 2A). When I start the engine from cold, I hear a...

    Rear door bottom repair

Thanks for the offer, however I actually have ordered from EBAY sellers in UK. I don't think that's a problem. My plan is to buy the limit arm from Rovers North and install it in the tub, then mess around trying to figure out a slot arrangement to go on the inside of the door. The challenge I...

Series 3 Step by step wiper motor brushes

Wow. Incredible. I'm printing this page (in color). Really inspiring. Can't wait to get started! Thanks! Mike

    Series 3 Wiper motor.

Hey guys - thanks for all the comments. I'm having similar problem with my two speed wiper motor for the Series 2A. So I'll try all of the above (except that last part about breaking it). I cleaned the contacts last night and confirm power is going from the dashboard switch to the jack which...

    Rear door bottom repair

Before I shell out the money for it, I'm going to have to find some piece of channeling which might work with it. Mike

    Rear door bottom repair

What is the part number of the rod which goes from the tub to the door? I'd like to go that route, and rig up something on my door to hold it. I have a Series IIA, and I've looked in the Series III Parts manual and Series II Parts catalog and can't find this part number. Any ideas where I could...

    Rear door bottom repair

DWAS - Thanks. The Britpart looks nice, but I'll look around in the local hardware store for struts and spring type door arrangements. I'm hoping to save a bit of money that way. My rear door has a large section of steel checker-plate over the lower half. Thanks! Mike

    Lower dashboard heater flaps

Hi Guys - I have a Series 2A, and I thought I was just supposed to open the little door down under the dash near my knee, and that would divert some warm air to my feet. I did see that sliding ratchet heater lever and I moved it, but I didn't think it did anything. Pardon my being new to this...

Would I be right in assuming.....

Yes, looks like my late Series 2A. Keep us posted! Mike

    Windows

Yep, especially if you're in USA. As of today, I literally had to piece together one catch assembly from 4 suppliers (catch, bolt, nut, washers) totalling around USD70.00. Fortunately, I only had one missing catch to deal with.

Thanks! I just ordered the window-catch-nut 332329. And thanks for another great source for parts, or as you'd say "bits" or odds and sods! Mike
