Can you buy the original leather seat squab, 1999 Disco 2 ES.

    Fuel Pipe Leak :(

Why cant you take it back to where you had the FPR fitted? They must have bust it.

    fullrun tyres?

Funny how reviews seem to cloud peoples judgement. Had a set of Fullrun HS 255's fitted to my Disco 2 three years ago. Have nothing but praise for them, especially at the price. Came back up the M5 from Cornwall last night in probably the worst conditions I've seen on a motorway with absolutely...

    Discovery cv question

Disco 1 does'nt have cv joints as such. It has swivel balls with a bearing top and bottom. I'd be looking at perhaps the ball itself or wheel bearings or possibly the top and bottom bearings in the ball.

Is my 3.0 litre engine "representative of the marque"?

Just a thought. Obviously dont know the cause of the original engine failure but it possibly could have been a fault in one of the ancillaries (ECUs, pump et al) which still remain on the car.
  6. N

    Lets play guess the fault!!

If you hav'nt replaced your water pump this is the likely cause. Any leaks will not be seen on the ground as they land on the undershield and diissipate. Shine a torch down the side of the top hose onto the undershield and you will probably see what I mean.

    Suspension question (again!!!)

I'm not sure which "collet" you are referring to. As far as I know the only fixing for this type of airbag is the "gripper" type which shouldnt allow you to pull the pipe out unless you prise it out complete with the pipe. Personally I would prise this out and recut the pipe squarely and refit...

    Central Locking please

Try this. Open the door with the key, then lock it immediately with the fob. Then attempt to open the doors with the fob. Works for me in cold weather.

    The saga - 5!!

Somewhat pedantic post. :( Does'nt change my opinion on his problem.

    The saga - 5!!

I know you said you have checked it but I still think your cam timing is out. Diesels as we all know work on the compression of the diesel fluid to make them fire. Did you have the engine at TDC NO 1 cylinder and the camshaft sprocket in the correct position when you replaced the timing chain?

    Mystery rubbing noise

I don't think it's the release bearing that's causing the problem. Mine's been noisy when cold for at least two years. Think the problem is more likely to be the clutch itself and maybe the flywheel.

    TD5 Discovery noise

Obviously new to TD5s. It's the rotary oil filter winding down:p

    Ezi-bleed M/C CAP, D2

Anybody know if there is a blank M/C cap for a D2 that will allow me to use my ezi-bleed for a one man operation.

    Disco 2 rear axle leak

Yes, there's an o ring seal for the hub to axle but that does'nt prevent oil seeping up the halfshaft, hence the need for sealant on the halfshaft.
  17. N

    Disco 2 rear axle leak

That link does'nt mention the requirement for sealant on the driveshaft which I suspect is the problem in 4x4FORKS's case especially as he mentions oil seeping thro the axle nut.
  18. N

    Disco 2 rear axle leak

Axle oil seeps along the half shaft if there is a breakdown in the sealant that should be present when the hub was fitted. Take the hub off and smear the halfshaft with a suitable caulking sealant, then refit the hub as normal with a dab of sealant on the retaining nut.

Running out of ideas. . .

Are you sure you have the camshaft timing correct?

    Please help !!!!

Think the problem was leaky air springs in the first instance, not the height sensors.
