Freelander 1 18 Year old, passes MOT.

Hello all. A bit of a nervous morning today. The old Black Pearl went in for it's MOT. There was nothing that jumped out at me as I looked over it, but you never know. On the last occasion it did benefit from some injector cleaner, so, taking no chances I put 6 bottles through it prior to test...

    Freelander 1 CV boot change

Hello all. Sorry for not mentioning the left hand lock noise. Opened the inner boot CV with a Stanley knife and one of the three rollers had come apart. Did I cause this while setting out to do the original job? Or was the joint passed its best? The lube in the joint was of a watery sludge in...

    Freelander 1 CV boot change

Hello ALL. As it goes, I opted for a complete new drive shaft. going to do a full synopsis on the old one. On the plus side, the new one hasn't got the click, click, click, and odd steering feel on left turn. So, all is good. I forget the old Girl is almost 18yrs old. still starts on the button...

    Freelander 1 CV boot change

The shaft its self does not seem to be moving in and out of the yard, as there is no oil loss. Also, when trying to turn the shaft it feels locked in. It's just that by you pull it in and out, and the inner boot will extend. Cheers.

    Freelander 1 CV boot change

Hello all. No success I'm afraid. The shaft has not come out of the box, so no loss of oil. So I stripped it down and the shaft will just move in and out, but not stay put. Had a feel of the inner boot and theres some bits in there moving around. I take the inner cv joint has come apart...

    Freelander 1 CV boot change

No not sure. So. Can I achieve this without a total strip down? My idea having read your post, was undo the hub nut and lightly give the shaft a go with air punch to settle it in. Open to suggestions. Thanks.

    Freelander 1 CV boot change

Hello all. Changed the cv boot on the drivers side today. The drive shaft slipped out of the gearbox end, but managed to get it back in. Re_ assembled it all and torque the hub nut etc. The problem I have is when going through the gears the gear stick vibrates and wobbles, as does the...

    Starter Motor Click

Did the same a few months ago. Turned out to be the small spade connector needed the crud cleaning off it to make a decent connection. Once disturbed and refitted it would seem not exactly in the same position.
