    Disco 2 Two amigos

As far as I know it the centre diff is locked and the light is on then it limits traction control and abs input for off-road driving however you can beat the system by starting the car with the diff lock already engaged. It might be worth ensuring the diff is definitely in the unlocked...

Silicone hoses for non turbo engine

I put silicone hoses in my td5 discovery as I always wanted to see if they made a difference or were just for looks. The discovery hoses are pretty cheap compared to other cars I've owned so I took the plunge. TBH I've noticed no difference other than when I lift the bonnet I'm greeted with...

Defender ride quality v early Range Rover

I own a 1984 110 with self levelling suspension and a 1984 Range Rover classic with the same self levelling suspension. The ride feels identical on both, due to the self levelling suspension lighter duty springs could be fitted. Both are a lovely ride compared with my defender 90. However the...

    Gearbox noise i think

Mine does the same. Same age and drivetrain. When the clutch is just starting to engage the noise appears, when it's fully disengaged or fully engaged there's no noise only does it for the very first clutch slip of the day and then is fine. It hasn't bothered me much. Mine has fresh mtf94 and...

Disco 2 Buying a Disco 2 with a repaired rear chassis

Depending where the rot was on the back I feel it's on the inside chassis rail where the fuel tank sits then make sure any repair has been done with the fuel tank out. I've seen a couple where the new plate has been welded at the edge but only to give an impression of welded joint. It's hard to...

Td5 losing puff or is it me?

The one I have is only a month or so old and the air filter was replaced at the same time so I'm assuming it's faulty. I will do a test on it with a multimeter to make sure. It definitely seems slightly better disconnected at very least its no worse.

Td5 losing puff or is it me?

I will give him a call in the next few days. I've just done a 20 mile drive and decided to do it with the maf unplugged. I noticed very little difference, the pick up from low rpm was slightly better and it's ability to hold on hills was again a little better. I will be trying it on the...

Td5 losing puff or is it me?

I have managed to get it to 90mph in fifth to test just this. Wrong I know but it felt like it wanted to keep going it took time getting there but the engine wasn't kangarooing, or spluttering or showing any symptoms of lack of fuel. From memory I couldn't tell you probably about an inch and...

Td5 losing puff or is it me?

It's always been like it. But never really noticed until I drove it around where I live because it was all motorway on the way home. I've had it since February and it always seemed flat. Disconnected the maf and it felt better so ordered a vdo one and to be honest I was expecting the performance...

Td5 losing puff or is it me?

I don't have access to another known good maf. As I say I have a hawkeye on order. It's something I've been meaning to get for a while as I plan on using this discovery until it dies or I can't afford to fix it anymore and even then I might buy another. I might unplug it again and try the hill...

Td5 losing puff or is it me?

It has a brand new maf on it made by vdo. It's a possibility it could be faulty but I have no way of testing it accurately enough at the minute

Td5 losing puff or is it me?

Yeah it pulls nicely and when on the flat gets stronger and stronger in higher gears especially 5th the vehicle feels a little flat even over 2000rpm, but on hills it doesn't matter where in the rev range you are it will not accelerate or even hold the power. Through 1st to the lower rev range...

Td5 losing puff or is it me?

Thanks for the reply lynall I've tried disconnecting it and can feel a big difference with it disconnected the td5 becomes a non turbo. My only other thought is fuel pump however I have tested driving in fourth on the flat and it pulls strongly to 70mph which is 3000rpm and feels like it will...

Td5 losing puff or is it me?

I've been reading a lot of posts the last few days about td5 discoverys and how they perform on hills. Nothing really gives a solid answer I just want to know if my td5 is producing less power than it should be. It's a 1999 es discovery all standard, with new vdo MAF, egr blanked off and MAP all...

    Discovery 2 ABS sensor

I took the whole thing apart and it has a brand new hub on it the sensor itself is brand new as it still had grease on it. And there's no rust at all all shiny metal. However the three amigos self test and the abs light stays on until driving for a few seconds if I get out the vehicle and give...
