    Personally I think they're a decent motor, but most will shy away because of more expensive repairs than a 2 or 300tdi and the fact they had cooling issues in the RRC's. If it isn't broken id run it until it dies and stick in a tdi. If you do decide to get rid though ill buy the flywheel housing...

    I have one of these in my 90. No chain or belt. All gear driven and its a boat engine so to be fair it should be good wading. Mercruiser and BMW also use this engine sold under licence. Something different too

    I'd say you'd probably have to take 5mm off the inside of the adapter. I basically sits just on to of the bellhousing lip. Looks like I may have the wrong adapter :( whats weird though is the fact that the studs line up with the bellhousing. I won't chuck the SD1 housing. May have to keep using...

    I don't think the engine back plate would fit and the starter is on the other side. Maybe worth a check if i can find a pic or one to compare though. The bellhousing bolts all line up on the studs its just the adapter sits on the locating ring of the bell housing. Sherpa one may be different...
