    Tail lights.

Both the bulbs in my o/s tail light had blown recently, so I fitted 2 new ones. Within a few weeks they seem to have blown again. Is there any reason why this could have happened? The n/s ones seem fine.

    TD5 noisey fuel pump.

Thanks for the advice so far. Bizzarely enough the pump is now totally quite again. Will see how it goes, I don't suppose it will last!

    TD5 noisey fuel pump.

I think it was a Fram filter I fitted, which went on an hour or so before the old pump finally expired. Where on the car is the AAV located?

    TD5 noisey fuel pump.

My old fuel pump failed in April and I fitted a new Bearmach one. The pump had been fine up until about a week ago when it became very noisey. Is there anything else that could be causing the pump to be noisey, or should I look into getting it replaced by the supplier?

    TD5 Auto transmission warning light

Excellent! Thanks for all the advice, I will check the wiring and look into getting a new temperature sender. Anyone know who does them for a good price?

    TD5 Auto transmission warning light

Our TD5 auto keeps illuminating the tranmission fluid temperature warning light. It has alway done this ocassionally when towing on hot days but recently it does it whatever the weather when towing up gradients and sometimes even when not towing. I did a fluid change a few years ago. I also did...

TD5 lack of power under load.

An update on this. I did one ATF fluid change with no noticeable improvement. The car then began to exhibit the same problems up slightly less steep gradients and more frequently as well. I took the car to Keith Gott Land Rovers near Alton, they read the fault codes and it came up with...

TD5 lack of power under load.

A quick update on this thread. The car has been driving fine for the past couple of weeks but yesterday I had to tow a gross weight of about 1250Kg up a fairly steep hill, it held one gear at about 3000 RPM and was struggling to do 20 MPH. About halfway up the hill the ATF temperature...

TD5 lack of power under load.

Dave, Tried this today and although I had definite TC lock up in D, I could not get it to do the same in 3. To be fair the roads were a bit busy and I had my parents in the car, so I need to try it again to make sure. Glen.

TD5 lack of power under load.

Good to know, at least I won't have caused any damage. I want to change the filter anyway, so will put the recommended grade in.

TD5 lack of power under load.

Thanks guys. It appears my local factors sold me Dexron II for the car when it should have been at least Dexron IID. The Haynes manual does actually say Dexron IID or Dexron III. Best get it changed asap and hope there is no damage. Glen.

TD5 lack of power under load.

Dave, Thanks for all that. I will try the test at the weekend and let you know how I get on. Glen.

TD5 lack of power under load.

It was Dexron II rated not Dexron IID.

No power poor up hills no grunt!!

I have been having a similar problem: - http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f8/td5-lack-power-under-load-186699-2.html Could be fuel filter/fuel pump/fuel pressure regulator.

TD5 lack of power under load.

I got the fault codes read on Sunday evening by a Discovery enthusiast. The car drove fine on the way there except for the fluctuation in RPM up one particularly steep hill. The fault codes logged for the engine were: - F3129 Road speed missing. F3143 Turbo overboosting. Open circuit on...

    TD5 Coolant problem

We have the same problem with our Discovery. I had the cooling system pressure tested and they found a leak on the thermostat housing. This was replaced but it is still loosing coolant slightly and I can see it gathering on the thermostat housing again, so I guess it is coming from somewhere above.

TD5 lack of power under load.

Doesn't the injector harness also cause rough running? I don't have this, just the lack of power under load. Probably should change it really, had the car from 68,000 miles and as far as I know it has never been changed. From what I understand, all of the electrical controls are needed for...

TD5 lack of power under load.

Fitted a new MAF and new wategate modulator last night and took the car for a run up the same steep hill this morning. The problem is stil there, in D it gets to just under 3000 RPM (about 50-55 MPH) and the revs drop about 100 RPM rise and then drop again, the car is in 3rd gear at this...

    WaxOyl

Both. Dinitrol products were tested by Practical Classics some years ago and came out as one of the best of a selection of rustproofing products. I used Waxoyl for many years and always found it too thin and not sticky enough. Hammerite is a pain to apply and tends to be very brittle and prone...

    WaxOyl

There are far better products than Waxoyl and Hammerite. Have a look at the Dinitrol range at rust.co.uk. Much more durable and far easier to apply if you have a compressor.
