Freelander 1 Frustrating morning belting the propshaft.

Aahhh yes the good old Haynes book of lies, I remember it well, quote reassembly is the simple reversal of disassembly ! Why did I always have loads of nuts n bolts left over lol not to mention no skin on knuckles, rust and metalic debris in both eyes, bad back for weeks afterwards I think now...

    Phoebes fixed !

You know how mechanically minded I am Nodge lol , the threaded piece had dropped inside of the big rubber mount, am annoyed as passed mot a week before. Will take pics of dangerously worn discs and pads, also the shocks have zero resistance when you push n pull.

    Phoebes fixed !

My mechanic said the top threaded part had dropped inside thereby the engine dropped by that amount., you can see where it was rubbing metal on metal. No idea of previous service history but as the oil filter took an hour to remove and the fuel filter was completely blocked it looks like it...

    Phoebes fixed !

Hi G, not sure, the guy ordered all the parts from the UK maybe from paddock wood or something similar.

    Phoebes fixed !

Hi Alibro , think it's the original part as got rover stamped on it, twenty years old and pushing 100k so guess its done well.

    Phoebes fixed !

Hi G, yes the top part had broken off and dropped inside, you can see where it was rubbing metal on metal. So much for a free car though, I was relieved of 460€ for the parts and Labour so guess not too bad.

    Phoebes fixed !

What have you done to your Freelander today

Just looked it up, if a car fails the test it's instantly logged as not having a valid mot. Its very unclear which I guess is what they want so they can now relieve you of £2500 and 3 points ! !

What have you done to your Freelander today

Nope if it fails then you don't have an mot. Please correct me if I'm wrong but I think that's how many people are being caught out.

What have you done to your Freelander today

Sure is, read when back home loads of motorists caught out and fined. Think they should and could have made it clearer. As it stands it's just another cash making scheme.

What have you done to your Freelander today

Boring I know but don't forget guys under these newish mot regs you CAN'T use your car legally if it's failed the test, Ie you can't rely on the previous test, once it's failed it will need immediate repair/retest before you use it !

    Fancy a swap ?

Sure, but would have used as a px and paid the extra. Going on the RR side was an interesting experience ( not ) So that also put me off ownership !

    Freelander 1 Heated windscreen cost?

Yeah know what you mean, I'd probably bottle it under interrogation lol. Forgotten what it's like to deal with frost etc.

    Fancy a swap ?

No thanks, had a moment of madness when I fancied a v8 petrol rangey but have come to my senses now ! For what I read about LRs I think I'll stick with a vehicle that works !

Freelander 1 tailgate glass closing on top of trim

Been having problems closing my tailgate, just literally have to touch the handle and it opens but wont lock or close easily. Opened it today and a good six inches of totally rusty metal dropped out from the top so perhaps yours is rusty too ? Since the top rail fell out it's fine now.
