    Where do you live?

I'm in the far north of the UK...another 20 miles and I can spit in the Pentland firth :). In the middle of nowhere, in East Sutherland, close to Caithness. Nearest town would be Thurso, or Dornoch. Neither of which are in the same county as I am!

Hi Simon, I've sent you a message which hopefully should help. Technically I'm still an admin. I never was removed from the system!

    Homemade diesel timing tool. 605863

As an aside, I inquired about the Churchill timing tool from Dingocroft. Actually ordered one in fact. The price on the dingocroft site is less than half what Bosch want. The guy I spoke to thinks that perhaps Bosch have lost the tooling, or just can't be bothered, despite the 70 day lead time...

    Speedo cable

I think my problem might be that its been unused for 18months, and been coiled up out of the way. Fingers crossed for a simple resolution anyhoo.

    Starter Motor Suppliers

Try a good battery first. I just did the same with mine, 95ah battery, been off the vehicle for 18 months, but charged regularly. Mind, it was never the best anyway, even though it was Bosch. The starter just clicked, even though I charged the battery for 24 hrs beforehand. Bought a 105ah...

Whats happened to the Landrover.net forum.

Hello folks, I'm afraid I can't contribute much to this topic, its been over 18 months since I had any involvement with lruk, my own doing admittedly, and even then I had no financial input, and had no part in updates or software. I just did the colour layouts, and dealt with the emails. I do...

Hi Gill, good to see you too, brother! Aye, min fit, like.... keeping myself out of mischief. Done terrible mischief to the bank balance though....

    Speedo cable

Thanks Steve, I'll do as you suggest. Last time it broke it was at the drive end, right in the housing. Twas an absolute pain to get out too. The drill is a good idea, easy enough to do from the drivers side too, given its quite likely to be pimply sissing down when I get back to it.

    Series 3 Maltese Grill Fittings

They should be at the bottom edge of the holes, in the middle of the outer two, facing inwards. Should even have holes in them ready to rivet or bolt to. They were there on mine, which is 1982, and I think its a left over from the late 2a. LR liked to get their moneys worth out of their tooling...

    Speedo cable

Thanks all! I think first thing will be to pull the cable and see if it is that. "Shouldn't" be the drive on the box. Famous last words.... Thanks for the link to xmod Doug, forgot about them... I've heard the same re britpart... I'll ask Dom at Lrseries. Will keep you posted.

    Speedo cable

First road test of the III this evening, since engine and gearbox rebuild. All seems well mechanically, but the speedo isn't working. I didn't replace the cable during the works...it was a bit fluttery but I put that down to a broken gearbox mounting rubber. So, replacements. The part number...

Series 3 Is it worth changing oil filter each time for a low use Series

I tried 15/40 once in mine....most of it ran out. But, if you're changing the oil, might as well do the filter while your hands are dirty. Can't hurt, can it? Re the wait for the light to go out...A) there's still lubricant on the surfaces, and B) watch how long the light stays on when you hit...
