Disco 2 She needs a chunk of weldage!

You sure it needs welding. Have you not just removed the surface paint and a layer of rust. Get the tank off and clean all up, paint and seal then blow a load of waxoyl down the internals. You could paint sealant over the rest of the externals and get plenty more years from it.

    Chrome balls

I would expect they could be. New balls come in a black colour, well they did when I replaced my 110 ones, and they are supposed to work better than chrome.

    Fuel line advice

If routing through the cab you will need to use hard wall pipes (copper, etc.) for safety. Either that or sleeve over a pipe. Each bulkhead entry and exit should be sealed too. These were the RAC MSA requirements many years back.

Disco 2 TD5 first Year of Ownership

Sounds like youve had a good D2 to start with from the off. I went for chassis and body as my first priority when buying and after treating it to a good waxoyl thats always been the best. Its also got no sun roof, which is probably why it has no rust either. Engine wise though I've had to change...

    Quick questions about fuel

Measuring fuel at the tank is the best way to measure fuel consumption and the more data sets you collect the more accurate it will become. This would also give you data over a wide range of driving conditions. If you want to be more accurate you would have a measured volume feeding the fuel...

    Exciting news from LOF

Not a lover of 6 pots on my bike, I prefer 4 pots. The 6's do have smaller lead pistons that contact first but this makes the lever long and less firm. What's the benefit for cars?

My dream that. I'd love a 1963 petrol in standard trim but as the years go by its all fast becoming a pipe dream that will sadly never happen. Get on with it, couldnt think of anything more rewarding.

    Disco 2 Daily runner

Did think of using the bikes for work but its getting dressed and undressed at each end that puts you off. Having said that I only had a bike for the first 5 years of work; younger then. I guess the point I was making is that the D2 is an excellent vehicle when its sorted and although its my fun...

    Disco 2 Daily runner

Yes thats the point the car is so cheap to run compared to the D2. If it were 2 or 3 years old it wouldn't be an issue. The D2 is though a very nice commute; its just the fuel costs are higher.
